The paper did a full page feature on the soon-to-be-opened DTL3. Starting from Fort Canning and ending at Expo, every station will have artworks. Below is an excerpt on the artwork at Bencoolen Station:

Bencoolen Station’s “Tracing Memories” is a creation by students of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. To preserve the memories of how Bencoolen Street used to be, the team collected over 800 photos of Bencoolen street views. The photos are used to form twelve 1.6m tall human silhouettes. Each of them are made up of at least 60 similar photos. The artworks are situated at the two entrances of the station.

These photos are taken by the students and lecturers of the academy. They hope that the artwork can ‘communicate’ with the commuters, and this is displayed by how the silhouettes are ‘joined’ together. The artwork is also meant to provide directions for commuters. To direct people to Exit A, which is near NAFA, the silhouettes are holding painting tools. The other exit, Exit B, is near Singapore Management University, so the silhouettes are holding pencils and laptops.
