In a community outreach project, 23 NAFA student volunteers reading for a Diploma in Fine Art worked with students from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine on "The Last Call". This exhibition presented 19 paintings, displayed at the Arts Expressions wall in SGH Block 2, Level 1, held between 11 December 2015 to 31 January 2016.
Curated by NAFA student Yoko Choi, "The Last Call" encouraged people to reflect on personal values and making informed decisions surrounding end-of-life issues. NAFA's Fine Art students created work based on insights gathered from the public, who imagined they were in their final days of life and made a final telephone call to their younger selves. The thoughts, wishes and observations shared at the call formed the inspiration of the paintings. This feedback exercise took place in June 2015, six months prior to the conceptualisation of the paintings.
"The Last Call" was executed as part of "Project Happy Apples", a student-led programme run in collaboration with the Singapore Hospice Council to raise awareness about palliative care in Singapore.
